A California Public Records Act (CPRA), California Government Code § 7920.000 et seq. is a legal demand for public records held by the state, municipal, or other governmental entity and requires a response within ten business days unless they’re exempt from disclosure by law.

In California, “public records” are “any writing containing information relating to the conduct of the public’s business prepared, owned, used, or retained by any state or local agency regardless of physical form or characteristics.”
